Honey Organza Saree: Who It Suits and How to Wear It

Honey Organza Saree: Who It Suits and How to Wear It

Honey Organza Saree: Who It Suits, What to Pair It With, and What It Won't Do

The question I get about our honey organza saree more than any other is a short one. Is it gold or is it orange? Honestly, it's both, and which one you see depends on the light you're standing in.

This is the Queen Bee, a 5.5 metre nylon mix organza in gold and brown tones. It's sheer, it's light, it needs no fall, and it's the saree more of you order than any other we sell. So here's the honest version of what you're buying.

What Colour Is a Honey Organza Saree, Really?

Gold and brown, with a little maroon underneath that you only notice once it moves. In daylight it goes soft and almost ethereal. Under evening lights it turns warmer and richer, closer to old gold than to orange.

I used to call this shade "brown gold" in my own notes and nobody knew what I meant. Honey stuck because people could picture it.

Who Should Buy a Honey Organza Saree?

Anyone dressing for a haldi, a reception, a cocktail evening or a Diwali dinner, and wanting to look dressed up without wearing something heavy. It's a lightweight saree, so you can sit, eat and dance in it.

Who it isn't for. If you want a structured, stiff drape or a saree that hides what's under it, this isn't that. Organza is sheer, and the honey saree is honest about it.

What Should You Wear With a Honey Organza Saree?

Here's my one real opinion. Buy the matching honey inskirt, every time. People skip it to save Rs. 549 and then wonder why the saree looks washed out in photographs. The inskirt is what turns the colour from see-through into deep.

For the blouse, a contrast usually beats a match. Deep red, dark blue or bottle green all work against honey gold, and the blouse guide explains why in more detail. If you want to stay in the family, the honey organza blouse material is Rs. 550 a piece and there are eight left. Or get the saree, inskirt and blouse together in the Your Perfect Honey Bundle at Rs. 4,398.

Jewellery is easy. Gold, or delicate pearls if you want it quieter.

Is the Honey Organza Saree Worth Rs. 2,999?

It's hand woven organza, and the fabric is difficult to work with, which is why we use only our most experienced weavers. It's dry clean only. On very close inspection you may notice small imperfections, and they don't show once it's worn.

If Rs. 2,999 is a stretch, there's also a Minor Defect version at Rs. 1,599, with eight left. It has small weaving flaws that a tailor can fix, and we don't take returns on those, so read that listing properly before you order.

How Do You Drape a Honey Organza Saree So It Sits Properly?

Organza is light, so it wants pins. Pin each pleat at the top and again at the bottom, and pin the pallu at the shoulder, or it will drift every time you move. There's no fall, so the inskirt does the structural work. Tie it a little snug.

Keep the pleats small. Wide pleats on sheer fabric look bulky, and narrow ones let the light move through the drape, which is the whole reason to buy honey.

Does a Honey Organza Saree Photograph Well?

Mostly yes, and the colour shift is why. In daylight photographs it comes out soft and pale gold. In evening shots, with lamps and fairy lights, it turns deeper. What it won't do is stay one single shade. So if you're matching a group outfit to it, look at it in the light you'll actually be standing in.

How Is Honey Different From Other Organza Colours?

Honey is warmer than champagne and bolder than cream. Our organza saree colour guide compares it with lavender and cream, and our fabric explainer covers how organza differs from satin and tissue. If you're shopping for a wedding, the bridal saree shopping guide is the better starting point.
